Holidays aren’t just for Humans!

Time to relax, the summer holidays are here, the kids are off from school, time to take a deep breath and take that well deserved break, but wait a minute, are you sitting there reading this thinking, “uh oh, I’ve not booked anywhere yet?”….Don’t worry! If you carry on reading, we’ve listed a few places which may give you some inspiration and guess what? They’re dog friendly…that’s right, dogs are welcome at these places. After all, who says your dog doesn’t need a holiday every now and then?

If you’re a dog owner, you may be thinking it’s not always that easy to jet off to sunnier climes or take a break, but fear not, there are alternative options.  For one, you can always leave them at home, obviously not to fend for themselves, we would never encourage that but that’s where we can step in. We offer overnight pet sitting in your dog’s home so if you have a dog that enjoys its creature comforts, this could be the perfect option. Your dog gets to stay where it feels at its most comfortable, with all its lovely belongings around it, plus the smell of its humans. Who thought leaving them at home could be so easy!? Our overnight pet sitting prices are listed on the website, or get in touch, we’d love to speak to you.

Not planning to leave your dog at home? That’s not a problem, there are now plenty of places in the UK and abroad which offer accommodation that also caters for your beloved dogs so, why not hop in the car, wind down the window and let the air catch in your dog’s ears and whisk them off on holiday too!

Why not discover what the UK has to offer. Fancy some fresh sea air?  Dorset Dog Friendly Holidays could be just what you’re after.

Dorset is listed as one of the UK’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (if that hasn’t already tempted you, then read on!) there’s an abundance of places for you and your four-legged friend to explore, such as the Jurassic Coastline, dog friendly beaches and beautiful landscapes with lots of walking trails. Weymouth Outdoor Education Centre is close by and offers lots of exciting outdoors adventures, there’s museums for those rainy days and the famous Monkey World is also not too far away, unfortunately your dogs won’t be welcome there though. After all this adventuring, you’ll need somewhere to recharge your batteries and that’s where Dorset Dog Friendly Holidays comes to the rescue. They have two beautiful cottages, Corner Cottage which sleeps 8 and is based in a village location, 3 miles from Weymouth and 1 mile from the nearest beach. Mayfield sleeps 4, is based in a central location in the heart of Weymouth and is 1/2 mile from the UK’s Best Beach 2017. Both cottages have fully enclosed gardens, to keep your dog safe when sniffing around out there and off-street parking. If that hasn’t already convinced you, check out their website to see for yourself how lovely their accommodation is or, if you’re a fan of social media you can also find them on Twitter @DorsetHolidogs.

The UK has some stunning places to holiday, and what better place than Cornwall. They have everything there from stunning beaches, to cliff walks, caves, scenic harbours, golf courses and let’s not forget about The Eden Project. If you want to see Britain at its finest, Cornwall is a must see and with plenty of things to explore outdoors, it makes the perfect holiday to take your dog on too. If you’re taking your dog with you then you will need to find accommodation that allows dogs. Fortunately, Sara’s Cottage not only offers fabulous accommodation, they also let your four-legged friend stay too, yippee! (please check their website in regards to their dog policy) The cottage is a detached country residence all on one level and is only 10 minutes’ drive from the cathedral city of Truro and only a 20 minute drive from both north and south coast beaches. The cottage sleeps up to 6 people and 2 dogs so makes it the ideal place for a family holiday or a getaway with friends but why not take a look for yourself or, keep up to date with them on Twitter @SarasCottage.

If you’re still itching to get out of the UK with your dog, all is not lost. How about popping over the channel to our neighbouring country France? Maison Lairoux Holiday Homes in the Vendée, France could be the perfect option for you. Dog friendly – check, good weather – check, stunning scenery – check, sandy beaches – check. Comprised of two holiday homes, Le Vieux Café, which sleeps up to 8 guests and L’Ecurie which sleeps up to 5, along with a heated pool, games room, gardens and views across the wetland pastures in the valley below, there’s enough to keep everyone entertained but if you want to get out and explore, check out the village of Lairoux which is situated on the edge of the Marais Communal. It’s an area of outstanding natural beauty with miles of countryside for you and your dog to explore, or if you’d prefer to explore by bike, the flat marshland offers the perfect opportunity to cycle on. Take a look on their website to enquire about bookings or why not follow them on Twitter @VHCottages

Enjoy the summer everyone!
